Girls in AI Bulgaria is part of the international initiative Teens In AI which exists in order to support social diversity and inclusion of young people in the sphere of artificial intelligence.
The initiative Teens In AI is launched at the global summit of the UN “AI for Good Global Summit” in May 2018 with the main purpose to inspire the next generation of ethical researchers, entrepreneurs and leaders who will create the world of tomorrow.
The combination of expert mentorship, lectures, seminars, hackathons and teamwork forms a platform for young people at the age of 12-18 years and provides the opportunity for examination of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and Data Science.
The Digital National Alliance is the first and current host of the initiative in Bulgaria which starts in October 2021 with the local edition of the international online hackathon Ada Lovelace Hackathon 2021.
“We cannot allow half of the world talent – girls to be excluded from the spheres of artificial intelligence and technological solutions which are extremely important nowadays. Greetings to the organizers of the initiative!” – shared Christina de Bruin, who is an UNICEF Representative to the Republic of Bulgaria, in her speech for the opening of the first project of Girls In AI Bulgaria.
