Global Britain: UK Priorities in a Changing World

The Atlantic Club of Bulgaria and the British Embassy Sofia have the pleasure to invite you to a virtual conversation on the UK Integrated Review of Security, Defence, Development and Foreign Policy. The online event entitled “Global Britain: UK Priorities in a Changing World” will be held on 22 April (Thursday) at 14:00 h (EET) on Zoom.

The publication of the UK’s Integrated Review of Security, Defence, Development and Foreign Policy in March 2021 sets out a comprehensive articulation of the UK national security and international policy at an important moment. The world has changed considerably since the UK’s last review in 2015, as has the UK’s place in it. The Integrated Review commits the UK to act as problem-solving and burden-sharing actor with a global perspective, with an emphasis on openness as a source of prosperity; a more robust position on security and resilience; a renewed commitment to act as a force for good and a determination to seek multilateral solutions to global challenges.

Join Dr. Solomon Passy, President of the Atlantic Club of Bulgaria, British Ambassador to Bulgaria Dr. Rob Dixon, and the guest-speakers Mr. Velizar Shalamanov, Chairman of the Board of NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency), Mr. Julian Popov, Minister of Environment and Water of Bulgaria 2013 and Mrs. Vessela Tcherneva, Head of European Council on Foreign Relations Sofia, for a discussion on the UK’s global priorities in a changing world, and what these mean for the UK-Bulgaria partnership.

The approximate duration of the event will be 90 minutes. The virtual conversation will be moderated by Amb. Elena Poptodorova, Vice-President and Director of the Three Seas Initiative Programme at the Atlantic Club of Bulgaria.
