The Director of the European Union Satellite Centre, dives into the critical role of space in safeguarding Europe’s security – Rear Admiral Louis Tillier, came to Bulgaria on 20th of May in the Aula of the Sofia University.

With decades of experience in defense, intelligence, and space cooperation, Rear Admiral Tillier shared us invaluable insights into EU missions and global challenges.

It is an inspiring conversation on how space intelligence supports EU security and decision-making. From his unique perspective – covering naval operations, space defence strategy and international cooperation – he offered a rare insight into the role of satellite technology in protecting Europe’s interests. Attendees even had the opportunity to step into the shoes of professionals in the field and try to guess exactly what was visible in the pictures taken by the satellites.

Rear Admiral Tillier also made a congratulatory address, which you will see on our special space and STEM event. This event was under the umbrella of the HELLO SPACE | Bulgaria Calling 5.0 festival, which will take place on 24th June 2025.
