On March 29, 2004, Bulgaria became a member of a political and military union – an act that is accepted as a strategic choice of the nation and determines the future of the country for years to come. The organization of which we became a member is NATO, and tomorrow marks exactly 15 years since the day when officially – on paper, we stood next to the most developed countries in the world and received the best possible guarantees for our security. Many people have merits for the accession of Bulgaria, it has come a long way. However, the beginning was set by a man who in those days, when we timidly took the path of democracy, showed courage, determination, vision and launched one of the most important political processes in our recent history – namely – the path to our acceptance. in NATO.
