📢 On 19 January, PanEuropa Bulgaria had the pleasure to organize a discussion on “Sweden’s EU Presidency and where Bulgaria Is”.
👥 The discussion was organized in cooperation with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Bulgarien, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden in the Republic of Bulgaria, the European Commission in Bulgaria and the Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute. 💯
During a public discussion at the House of Europe in Sofia, the priorities of Sweden’s Presidency of the Council of the EU and Bulgaria’s perspective on the EU agenda for the next six months were presented.
✅ The event was opened by Ms. Gergana Passy, President of PanEuropa-Bulgaria, Mr. Norbert Beckmann-Direx, Head of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Office in Bulgaria, and Mr. Tsvetan Kyulanov, Acting Head of the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria.
The main participants in the discussion were H. Ms. Katarina Rangnit, Ambassador of Sweden in Bulgaria, Ms. Veleslava Petrova, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, and Mr. Atanas Pekanov, Deputy Prime Minister for the Management of EU Funds.
Ambassador Rangnit presented the key priorities of the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the EU, namely a more secure, competitive, green and democratic Europe. The main objective of the Presidency will be to preserve European unity as well as an economically strong and competitive European Union.
On the part of the Bulgarian participation, Mr Pekanov and Ms Petrova expressed the Bulgarian support for the Swedish priorities and underlined the importance of European economic stability as well as the need for a sustainable and fair energy transition.
