The chairman of the youth organization of PanEurope – Bulgaria, Ekaterina Dimitrova, commented on the topic of the Road to Schengen in the morning block of Euronews Bulgaria.
Bulgaria still has work to do before joining Schengen and therefore needs to set clear goals and priorities before completing the process and finally becoming part of the Schengen area.
Major political and diplomatic efforts are needed for Bulgarian citizens to have access to the benefits of the single visa system and abolition of border controls at internal borders, including easier movement and increased internal trade within the single market and security.
Also, accession to Schengen will improve the situation at the border points with Romania. Ekaterina Dimitrova noted how busy the traffic around Vidin and Ruse is at this stage and what comprehensive negatives this brings.
