PanEuropa Bulgaria and the Polish Embassy in Sofia marked the beginning of Poland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU, outlining Bulgaria’s outlook for the next six months.
The discussion was jointly opened by the presidents of PanEuropa Bulgaria and PanEuropa Romania, Gergana Passy and Alexandru Nazare.
Poland’s key priority during its presidency is security in all its dimensions: external, internal, informational, economic, energy, food, and health security.
In 2024, Poland allocated approximately 4.12% of its GDP to its armed forces, placing it first in the Alliance, ahead of even the USA (3.38%).
The discussion featured active participation from the Polish Ambassador Maciej Szymański, Bulgaria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Kondov, and Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov.
On behalf of the Atlantic Club, Dr. Solomon Passy extended a non-binding invitation for Argentina to join NATO. The invitation was handed personally to the ambassador with a request for it to be conveyed to Argentina’s President Javier Milei.
The event was organized by PanEuropa Bulgaria and PanEuropa Romania in partnership with the Polish Embassy in Sofia, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the Diplomatic Institute at the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria, with support from PanEuropa Romania.
