PanEuropa Bulgaria Organises a Lecture on the Topic “The Latvian Presidency of the EU Council Priorities”

PanEuropa Bulgaria, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, the Embassy of Latvia in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute and the European Commission Representation in Sofia, in cooperation with the Atlantic Club of Bulgaria, organize a public discussion on the topic „The Latvian Presidency of the EU Council Priorities”. Special participants in the event will be H.E. Ilgvars Kļava, Ambassador of Latvia to Bulgaria and Ms. Meglena Kuneva, Deputy Prime Minister of Bulgaria for European Policies Coordination and Institutional Affairs.

H.E. Ilgvars Kļava will present the priorities of the Latvian Presidency, which will focus on several fields of action including: achieving “soft” federalism, security issues, the Digital Agenda for Europe, migration and taxation issues as well as energy policies.

In her speech Ms. Kuneva will outline the main challenges Bulgaria faces in the upcoming 6 months, including the expectations from the new programming period, the preparation of the upcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council in 2018, the work with the European Commission, as well as other issues of national importance.

The event will take place on 3 February 2015 (Tuesday), at 11:00 a.m., at Sofia Hotel Balkan (Sheraton). Registration will begin at 10:30 a.m.
